Day 23

Josiah’s teacher came by the hospital and brought balloons.  If you know anything about Josiah, you know this boy adores balloons.

When the balloons arrived however, he showed no interest.  He barely looked at them. He pushed them away when we put them beside him.

But the very next day Josiah played with them for hours. He’s like that with many things. The first time he’s exposed to something he automatically rejects it.  He even rejects something he’s seen many times before and has enjoyed in the past.  I’m not sure why.  We’re used to it.  This was Josiah’s last full day in the hospital.  Based on those smiles alone, you could tell he was feeling better.

It doesn’t take much to make this boy happy.  It doesn’t take much to make me happy either. Having our boy back home put a huge smile on my face too.
