And then he decided, it wasn’t so bad after all.
Please, oh please, let his boat ride be over soon!
Josiah is hesitant to try most anything he’s never done before. Our local Down Syndrome group had a Dolphin Boat Tour this weekend. On the way to meet the others, we explained to him what we would be doing. We showed him pictures. We talked about the boat. We talked about Dolphins. Apparently, Josiah understood quite well, because he didn’t even want to get out of the van once we arrived.
When it was time to board, he wanted nothing to do with it. All the others in the group happily walked on board, excited for the adventure. Josiah tried to escape. Fortunately, his amazing caregiver hoisted him up on her back before he realized what was happening. You can see him clinging to her for dear life. This kid is 13. We’d either better teach him to adapt to new situations with a little less resistance or bulk up a bit as he gets older. Can you imagine the stares I’d get, if I lifted a 23 year old on my shoulders?
